Description:
This position is located in the Recreation Services Division of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department, San Diego. The Recreation Services Division is assigned the responsibility of providing comprehensive athletic and recreational programs and activities. These services are provided to active duty, retirees, reservist, their dependents and authorized civilian personnel at the Olde Gym, San Diego.Requirements:
- Incumbent must possess and maintain current certification in one or more of the following organizations: American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), American Council on Exercise (ACE), National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), Cooper Institute, the International Association of Fitness Professionals (IDEA), National Aerobics Fitness Trainers Association (NAFTA), or other nationally recognized certifying agency or be able to obtain certification within 30 days of employment.
- Knowledge of basic cardiovascular risk factors, weight loss and nutritional habits, proper biomechanic techniques and fitness profile testing.
- Skill in instruction and proper use of exercise equipment.
- Ability to handle emergency situations.
- Knowledge of publicity materials.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
- Ability to maintain records and reports.
- Ability to deal effectively with others.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
