The primary purpose of this position is to perform benchwork involved in routine inspection, repair, and maintenance of parts and subassemblies of hydraulic and pneumatic components by following detailed maintenance and repair procedures.

Requirements:

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-8200 Fluid Systems Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The screen out element for this position is Ability to do the Work of the Position Without More than Normal Supervision.

EXPERIENCE: Comprehensive knowledge of aircraft of aircraft fuel systems on the types of aircraft used at the AFTC. Requires a good working knowledge of related aircraft systems (i.e.- electrical. hydraulics, external power unit components) in troubleshooting situations sufficient to determine whether probable cause of malfunction within own area of work or that of another specialist. Training or experience in maintenance of the EPU system, hydrazine team member and safety is required. Training and experience working in "Permit Required" confined spaces and as a "Team Chief/Supervisor' 'and "Rescue Team Member''. Completion of Air Force or Industry level Aircraft Fuel Systems Repair Technical School, and two-years minimum performing maintenance as an Aircraft Fuel Systems Journeyman (5-level) is required. Skill in using basic hand and powered tools and in using measuring instruments such as pocket rules-and micrometers. Skill in assembling parts by bolting, screwing, or sealing. Ability to follow clear specifications or to use patterns or templates provided in work orders and instructions. Ability to recognize various size bolts, screws, and rivets.

Ideal Candidate: Works under the general supervision of the fuel shop production supervisor who issues oral or Written work instructions, provides assistance and guidance with work problems and evaluates performance on basis of adequacy of methods and material used and quality of work accomplished and grants leave. May work under the direction of a higher grade mechanic. Guidelines for work performance-are technical orders, blueprints, drawings, sketches and other similar specifications and established shop policies and procedures. Fills out required documentation in performance of duties. Depending upon specific work situation, work may be performed as a member of a crew under technical direction of a working leader. Guidelines for performance of work are Air Force technical orders and manuals, blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and similar technical specifications and directives pertaining to work area, Completed work is reviewed for quality and completeness.


PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
