This position is located at VA Northern California Health Care System - McClellan VA Clinic in McClellan Park, CA. The Social Science Program Coordinator is responsible for the delivery of Whole Health Coaching and skill development of the local Medical Center's Whole Health Coach program, including provision of care through coaching and promotion and education regarding Whole Health Coaching to Veterans and staff.

Basic Requirement: The following are basic requirements for appointment as a Social Science Program Coordinator in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), which all applicants must met. Basic Education: Bachelor's or higher degree in behavioral or social science or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR, Basic Experience: Four (4) years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR, Basic Combination of Education and Experience: Combination of education and experience that provided you with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. Minimum Requirement: In addition to meeting the basic requirements one of the following minimum requirement criteria must be met to be qualified for this position. Specialized Experience (GS-09): You must have one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (i.e., GS-07) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Qualifying examples of specialized experience would typically include but are not limited to: working as a health coach applying knowledge of health coaching structure, process, skills and techniques; supporting clients' plans for health and well-being and providing information and resources for achieving goals; retrieving, tracking and trending information needed for reporting related to health coaching; and utilizing automated systems and interpersonal and communication skills. OR, Education (GS-09): Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have two (2) years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. NOTE: One (1) year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent one (1) year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the one (1) year of full-time study requirement. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended. IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: : Regular and recurring work is mostly sedentary involving sitting at a desk, although the position requires the ability to move from one geographic location of the facility to another. Some physical effort such as standing, walking, bending or prolonged sitting may be required. The work places no special physical demands on the employee.
