Description:
This position is located within the Navy Fitness Program, Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Departments, within the San Diego Metro Sites. The purpose of this position is to serve as a facilities coordinator. Incumbent is assigned to the Peak Performance Fitness Center located on Naval Amphibious Base Coronado.Requirements:
Practical knowledge and understanding of exercise science and exercise prescription.Certification from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), American Council on Exercise (ACE), National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), Cooper Institute for Aerobic Research, or other nationally recognized certifying agency or be able to obtain certification within 30 days of employment.
Knowledge of basic cardiovascular risk factors, weight loss and nutritional habits, proper biomechanical techniques and fitness testing.
Knowledge and skill in the instruction and proper use of exercise equipment.
Ability to handle emergency situations.
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid certification.
Ability to maintain records and reports, follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively with others.
