About You!

We are seeking two highly motivated and detail-oriented chemists to join our growing medicinal chemistry team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in synthetic organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry and will play a key role in Actio’s pipeline development by designing and synthesizing novel molecules for defined targets. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to early-stage lead ID programs, lead optimization programs, and scale-up efforts. You will also work cross-functionally to create novel, small molecules that combine on-target activity, off-target mitigation and the pharmacokinetic profile required for promising drug candidates.

You will be responsible for:

  • Design and implement feasible synthetic routes with independent planning and lab execution.
  • Contribute to design of new molecules to achieve project goals.
  • Presentation of work, interpretation of data, and drawing of conclusions regarding given material and nature of work in an independent manner.
  • Maintain a high level of expertise through familiarity with relevant scientific and technical literature and apply it appropriately to research projects.
  • Use strong communication skills (both verbal and technical) and interpersonal skills to communicate objectives and results.
  • Utilize knowledge of laboratory safety when planning and performing lab activities.
  • Maintenance of laboratory equipment and general lab operations.

You have the following skills and qualifications:

  • BS or MS degree in chemistry with 5 or more years of relevant drug discovery experience in biotech or pharma.
  • Strong synthetic skills and a solid knowledge of modern organic synthesis techniques.
  • Demonstrable track record and a commitment to tackling drug discovery challenges.
  • Proficiency in the use of database searching tools and industry standard software applications.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and technical) and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.

We are committed to ensuring all employees, both current and future, receive fair and equitable pay. Base pay is one component of the total compensation package, and is determined within a range according to role, level, and location. This provides the opportunity for growth as you gain experience and develop within a role, while also allowing for differentiation based on performance. The base pay range for this role is between $90,000 and $105,000 and reflects our good faith estimate of the minimum and maximum target for the position as of the date of posting and may be modified in the future. The final base pay within or near the estimated range will be determined based on various factors including job-related skills, extent of relevant experience, education or training, work location, and market demand for your expertise.
