There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Food Service Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform the common duties of a Food Service Worker that include washing dishes, pots and pans, either manually or by use of mechanical equipment, cleaning spaces under and behind kitchen equipment and plating food on a tray. I work under supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion make sure they are properly performed - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Physical Effort - Employee must occasionally lift up to 55 pounds, e.g., filling milk dispenser, frequently lift or push moving objects weighing up to 30 pounds, e.g., lifting loaded dish racks, pushing loaded meal tray carts. Work is performed requires stooping, bending, turning side to side, reaching, stretching over head, and prolonged standing and walking, and occasionally walking up to four flights of stairs at a time, e.g., delivering meal trays during elevator breakdowns.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS - Areas are often uncomfortably warm and noisy particularly in the scullery. May be exposed to minor cuts, bruises, burns, and scalds. There is danger of slipping on floors which are wet from mopping, or where spills have occurred. May be exposed to temperature extremes when working in the scullery or galley, e.g., near dishwashing machine, near ovens, in walk-in refrigerator
