You will serve as a SHIPWRIGHT LEADER in the TEMPORARY SERVICES SHOP, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. Point Loma Complex, San Diego

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE:

*Sets up and operates woodworking machines such as timber sizer, resaws, cut off saws, band saws, rip saws, table saws, and drill presses.
*Sets up procedures and methods to solve work problems.
*Instructs Shipwrights, Shipwright Helpers and Student Trainees (Shipwright) on proper work procedures and methods, use of tools, and safety pertaining to shop trade skills.
*Ability to know lumber grades and specifications.
*Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, drawings, and work orders.
