About the position: Sierra Army Depot is located in Herlong,CA. a rural town in Northern California. Herlong is approximately 60 miles north of Reno, NV, and 35 miles south of Susanville,CA The depot serves as an Army Expeditionary Logistical Support Center. Employees work Mon-Thurs, 0630-1700 hrs. Youth Facilities and childcare available. Mass transportation is available at minimal cost. Surrounding area boasts a full range of outdoor sports/recreation activities.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element) : Ability to do the work of a(n) Painter ~ (Direct Hire Authority) without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Painter duties to include preparing surfaces. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed-Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
  • Practices in Construction, Structure.

  • Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc.
  • Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge of Materials.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: The painter prepares and coats surfaces from ladders, scaffolds, and platforms, and in situations where the surfaces to be coated are in cramped and hard-to-reach places. The work may be at extreme heights (such as water towers or tall buildings). This requires the ability to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, be strapped into swing stages, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Ability to lift, carry, and set up materials and equipment that weigh up to 10 pounds. Occasionally, may be required to handle materials and equipment that weigh 40 pounds and over.

WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is done inside and outside, with dirt, spray, and fumes usually present. The painter is sometimes required to prepare, treat, and finish surfaces outside in all types of weather. Protective equipment and clothing such as safety shoes, safety glasses or sun glasses, gloves rain gear, hard hats, coveralls, respirators and other protective gear are required, which are sometimes heavy and uncomfortable. Frequent exposure to the possibility of cuts and bruises; may occasionally be exposed to the possibility of broken bones.
