This SHEET METAL MECHANIC (AIRCRAFT) position, is located within a National Guard aircraft maintenance organizationand is part of the CA 144 FW.
Requirements:
General Experience: Possess experience or training that has provided the ability to remove, repair, modify, and install parts and assemblies, such as frames, stringers, longerons, bulkheads, beams, ribs, spars, skin, cowling, brackets, faring, access doors, panels and other related items.SHEET METAL MECHANIC (AIRCRAFT), WG-3806-08 (Trainee) : Must have 12 months experience or training planning, manufacturing, and installing cylindrical, square, or rectangular-shaped objects that have easily constructed fastening; Experience cutting and forming by using basic hand and powered tools such as hammers, chisels, hand snips, band and circle saws, squaring shears, seamers, bar folders, breaks, and stakes; Experience assembling parts by seaming, bolting, screwing, riveting, tacking, spot-welding, or soldering; Experience demonstrating a basic understanding of using measuring instruments.
SHEET METAL MECHANIC (AIRCRAFT), WG-3806-10: Must have at least 18 months experience in layout, bending, cutting, forming and assembling to manufacture items of aircraft and equipment; Experience using more complicated shop tools and equipment; Experience in using metals including stainless steel, copper sheet, magnesium, honeycomb material and alloys; Experience demonstrating the use of more complicated mathematical calculations and complicated measuring instruments.
TRAINEE POSITION: Applicants not meeting full qualifications for the WG-10 position indicated above may be considered for WG-08 trainee, if qualified. Statement-of-Difference of qualification requirements for each are indicated. If appointed as trainee, the selectee may be non-competitively promoted to WG-10 upon meeting full qualifications and recommendations of supervisor.
