The Deputy Federal Security Director (DFSD) - Security serves at a major Category X airport. Criteria for use in determining "major" Category X airport includes a passenger throughput of over 24 million, significant international embarkation and debarkation point, high vulnerability and threat and include multiple checkpoints at geographically dispersed terminals. The DFSD - Security is responsible for the spoke and hubs overall day-to-day security operations, including deployment of security technology, deployment of staff, scheduling, risk management, compliance and inspection, law enforcement, stakeholder relations and screening operations. The DFSD - Security is one of the highest-ranking members of the airport's senior management team, monitoring the daily security operations of the airport and reporting directly to the Federal Security Director.
This position's focus is on screening operations and compliance. As such, the DFSD - Security is responsible for the deployment, evaluation, analysis and improvement of the equipment, environment, and operations that execute TSA's security mission. The DFSD - Security is responsible for ensuring that screening operations are efficient and effective, and that proper management of resources, technology and resources is utilized. These responsibilities and accompanying authority include the tactical planning, execution and operating management for coordinated security services, and other duties as prescribed by the Administrator and Federal Security Director.
