Requirements:

GS-10: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience appraising work procedures and recommending more efficient and safe methods for radiation/contamination related evolutions. Experience reviewing local radiological practices and procedures. Experience determining deficiencies in the actions taken by Radiological Control Technicians or other personnel. Experience making recommendations as to needed changes or additions in training, radiological procedures or work practices.
GS-09: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience reviewing work procedures in the various high level trades and test procedures on radioactive systems for radiological implications. Experience demonstrating ability to determine the cause of serious incidents and solving radiological control problems that lower grade technicians cannot solve. Experience applying knowledge of potential radiological control casualty situations and of the appropriate corrective or mitigating action which must be taken. Experience providing the full range of radiological control service for a wide variety of operations in industrial or other work.
GS-08: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience preventing and controlling incidents and accidents during compliance operations. Experience determining, directing, and controlling the activities of all personnel, disposition of effects of the emergency during potentially complex emergency situations. Experience applying knowledge of the function, nomenclature, location, and physical structure of naval nuclear propulsion plants in naval vessels and their support systems. Experience applying knowledge of physical and structural similarities and differences between propulsion plants and a practical knowledge of how plant systems and components interface with the remaining systems and components of the ship.
GS-07: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience applying knowledge of a wide range of radiological control practices and requirements, and processes in several trades sufficient to monitor and control several phases of refueling and primary systems components replacement. Experience suggesting radiological improvement to local procedures and controlling complex incidents. Experience applying knowledge of the principles, theories, techniques, and methodologies for the surveillance of nuclear propulsion plant work processes, control of radioactive material, and control of radiation exposure and radioactive contamination.

Examples of qualifying specialized experience include work in the fields of astronomy, physics, geophysics, chemistry, hydrology, health physics, engineering, electronics, geology, oceanography, and metallurgy.

Experience as a laboratory mechanic or in a trade or craft may be credited as general or specialized experience when the work was performed in close association with physical scientists or other technical personnel and provided intensive knowledge of appropriate scientific principles, methods, techniques, and precedents. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
