Description:

You will serve as a LEAD FIREFIGHTER (BLS/HAZMAT OPS) in the Commander Navy Installations of NAVAL AIR WEAPONS STATION CHINA LAKE.

Requirements:

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Preparing reports concerning fire runs, training, maintenance, and inspections to keep supervisor informed; 2) Leading structural firefighting duties for facilities that include research and/or large industrial complexes; 3)Performing pre-fire planning by physically going through structures to become familiar with layout, fire hazards and location of fixed fire protection systems to maintain up to date knowledge for fighting structural fires; 4) Leading crash-rescue and firefighting duties involving air traffic and/or support operations where hazardous conditions are such that the expectancy for fire is high; 5) Driving/operating firefighting vehicles to include pumpers, aerial ladder truck, and Airport Rescue Fire Fighting vehicles considering factors such as wind direction, sources of water, hazards from falling structures, location of armament on aircraft to maintain safety of operations; 6) Surveying hazardous material incidents to identify materials involved, determine whether hazardous materials have been released and surrounds conditions to predict likely behavior of hazardous materials; and 7) Administering emergency medical care and preparing victims for transport to medical facilities.
